2010 Theme: Fullness of Life in Christ

"We rejoice in sharing with you our theme for next year, 2010-- 'Fullness of Life in Christ.' This theme is based on Colossians 2:6-7: 'Since you have accepted Christ Jesus as Lord, live in union with him. Keep your roots deep in him, build your lives on him, and become strongerin your faith, as you were taught. And be filled with thanksgiving.' (Good News Bible version)," says the International Council (IC) of Couples for Christ through its Chairman.
In his letter to the Couples for Christ global family, Bro. Joe Tale reminds us of our "twin mission of Building the Church of the Home and Church of the Poor with Christ as its center."
He enjoins everyone to "continue to pursue both even more intensely because one is not complete without the other," while reasoning that "pursuing one and not the other will not allow us to experience the fullness of life that Jesus has modeled for us and is offering us."
"Our 2010 theme is a re-statement and a re-commitment of who we are as a community," Bro. Joe states while adding that "our theme is also a renewed call for us to strengthen the basics of our personal and community life."
Bro. Joe concludes his pastoral letter with hope as "we wait with great expectation for the fullness of life that He promises us in 2010."

Greetings from CFC Okinawa!
and may 2010 see a bountiful harvest of the good works you have planted last year and all the years before.

My wife and I and another couple from our CFC Unit are going to Turin for the exposition of the Shroud on April 10-12 and then go to the Vatican on April 13 and to tour the catacombs and coliseum on Apr 14. Would love to touch base with the brothers and sisters in Rome.

Some recent development here is the initiative to get CFC organized in Akita. We now have a contact couple who would help us put together the first CLP. She is from Davao and he is a local builder, not yet baptized but very supportive of his wife and appreciative of the Catholic faith.

We met them at the House of Mary on Dec 27, the new structure that houses the 3-foot statue of Our Lady of Akita, carved out of one solid piece of wood after the image of Our Lady of All Nations of Amsterdam. In 1975 and for six years, the statue shed tears one hundred one times. Despite initial erroneous reports of the events, Bishop Ito managed to bring this matter before then Cardinal Ratzinger who advised him that, as local bishop, he should convene a commission of local men of science to look into the matter. The commission concluded that there is no natural explanation to the event. Given that two miraculous healing and several conversions are attributed to Our Lady of Akita, Bishop Ito concluded that it is from God, Mary being the instrument of the Holy Spirit.
